    Smith, school, period, and context

Aichi-registered katana officially recorded as mumei (unsigned). But it can be dated arround late Muromachi due the shape, form and nakago. The combination of a long nagasa and an exceptionally restrained sori creates a sober, taut silhouette—clean, controlled, and notably elegant in hand and in display.

    Blade

A shinogi-zukuri blade with a slender profile and minimal curvature, finished with a well-proportioned kissaki. The hardening is readable as a discreet, continuous yaki line tracking the edge with composure.

The nakago carries a mature patina, shows three mekugi-ana—evidence of remounting and adjustments over the sword’s lifetime—and ends in a straight kiri-jiri, giving the tang an austere, purposeful character consistent with a blade meant to endure through successive mountings.

    Koshirae

A complete mounting in a classic, highly usable taste, built around a dark, restrained “true samurai” aesthetic.

The saya is finished in deep brown lacquer, combining a smooth upper section with a lower ishime-ji (stone-texture) area, and is fitted with a gilt-toned metal kojiri showing natural wear patina.

The tsuka is wrapped in black tsuka-ito over pale samegawa panels, accompanied by coppery-gold toned menuki. The kashira displays honest patina, deliberately understated.

The tsuba is an iron round sukashi guard with floral and foliate openwork, adding visual lightness and refinement without sacrificing presence.

No auxiliary fittings are recorded in the documentation provided.
