Supein Nihonto specialises in authentic Japanese antiques and works of art, particularly Japanese swords (nihontō), samurai armour, helmets, sword fittings and other historical Japanese objects.
The essential characteristics of each item, including its description, period, attribution where applicable, dimensions, condition, certification and accompanying accessories, are specified on the corresponding product page.
Most of the objects offered by Supein Nihonto are unique antique pieces, often several centuries old.
Consequently, signs of age, wear, historical use, old restorations, minor losses, oxidation, scratches or other age-related characteristics may be present.
Such characteristics are not necessarily defects and form part of the historical nature of the object.
Customers are therefore advised to carefully review the photographs and description of each item before purchasing.
Where an item has been attributed to a particular artist, school, period or workshop by a recognised certification body or accompanying documentation, this will be indicated in the product description.
Due to the handmade and antique nature of these objects, no two pieces are identical.
The price applicable to each product is the price displayed on the website at the time the order is placed.
Any applicable taxes will be reflected in accordance with the applicable legislation and the nature and destination of the transaction.
Shipping, insurance or other delivery-related costs, where applicable, will be indicated to the customer before the purchase is completed or communicated separately when the nature, value or destination of the item requires an individual shipping quotation.
For deliveries outside the Principality of Andorra or outside the relevant customs territory, the buyer may be responsible for import duties, customs charges, taxes or other fees imposed by the destination country.
These charges are not controlled by Supein Nihonto and, unless expressly stated otherwise, are the responsibility of the customer.
Orders may be paid using the payment methods made available during checkout.
Payments by credit or debit card are processed through a secure Virtual Point of Sale (TPV Virtual).
The cards accepted through the Virtual POS are:
Card information is processed directly through the secure payment infrastructure of the payment service provider. Supein Nihonto does not store the customer’s complete card details.
Payment may also be made by bank transfer where this option is offered.
An order will not be considered fully confirmed until payment has been successfully received or authorised.
After an order has been placed, the customer will receive confirmation electronically using the contact details provided during the purchase process.
Supein Nihonto reserves the right to contact the customer if additional information is required to process the order, verify the delivery address, comply with legal requirements or arrange the secure shipment of particularly valuable or regulated objects.
If an item becomes unavailable after an order has been placed, the customer will be informed as soon as possible and any amount already paid for that unavailable item will be refunded.
Supein Nihonto ships internationally, subject to the applicable legislation, transportation restrictions and import regulations of the destination country.
Estimated delivery times depend on the destination, selected carrier, type of object and any administrative or export documentation required.
Unless otherwise agreed with the customer, orders will be processed and dispatched within a reasonable period following confirmation of payment and completion of any documentation required for shipment.
Delivery times provided by Supein Nihonto or the carrier are estimates and may be affected by customs procedures, security inspections, transport disruptions or circumstances beyond the seller’s reasonable control.
Where tracking information is available, it will normally be provided to the customer after dispatch.
The customer is responsible for ensuring that the purchase, possession and importation of the ordered item are permitted under the laws and regulations applicable in the destination country.
This is particularly relevant to Japanese swords, blades, antique weapons and objects incorporating materials that may be subject to specific import or wildlife regulations.
Supein Nihonto will provide the documentation customarily associated with the object and shipment where applicable but cannot guarantee that an item will satisfy every local licensing, registration or import requirement applicable to the individual buyer.
Customers who are uncertain about the applicable requirements are advised to verify them with the competent authorities of their country before placing an order.
Consumers may request the cancellation and return of an eligible online purchase within 14 calendar days from receipt of the product, without having to provide a reason, subject to the conditions and exclusions described below and to applicable mandatory consumer legislation.
To exercise the right of withdrawal, the customer must notify Supein Nihonto clearly by email at:
info@supeinnihonto.com
The product must subsequently be returned in the same condition in which it was received, together with all original accessories, documentation, certificates and packaging supplied with it.
The customer is responsible for handling antique objects with appropriate care.
Unless otherwise required by applicable mandatory consumer legislation or unless the return results from an error attributable to Supein Nihonto, the customer is responsible for the direct cost and risk of returning the item.
Due to the high value and unique nature of many items, returns must be made using an appropriately insured and traceable shipping service.
The right of withdrawal does not apply where an exception is expressly permitted by applicable legislation, including, where relevant, products:
Where a particular antique or object requires special handling or has characteristics materially affecting its ability to be returned, this will be communicated to the customer before the purchase is completed where applicable.
Nothing in this section limits any mandatory consumer right that cannot legally be waived.
Returned products must be received in substantially the same condition in which they were delivered.
The customer must not polish, clean, restore, sharpen, dismantle, modify or otherwise intervene in an antique item before returning it.
This is particularly important for Japanese swords, armour, lacquerware and other fragile historical objects, where inappropriate manipulation may cause irreversible damage.
Supein Nihonto reserves the right, subject to applicable law, to reduce or reject a refund where the product has suffered damage, alteration or depreciation caused by handling beyond what is reasonably necessary to examine the item.
Once the returned product has been received and inspected, Supein Nihonto will inform the customer whether the return has been accepted.
Where a refund is due, it will normally be made using the same payment method used for the original purchase, unless another method has been expressly agreed.
Refunds will be processed within the period required by applicable law.
Any costs that are legally chargeable to the customer may be deducted from the amount refunded
where permitted.
Supein Nihonto is responsible for delivering products that correspond substantially to their description and the information presented at the time of purchase.
If an item arrives damaged in transport, differs materially from the item ordered, or presents a significant problem that was not disclosed in the description or photographs, the customer should
contact Supein Nihonto as soon as possible at:
The customer should retain all original packaging and provide photographs of the product and packaging where necessary to allow the issue to be assessed and, where applicable, a transport
insurance claim to be initiated.
The legal rights of consumers in relation to non-conforming goods remain unaffected.
Supein Nihonto makes reasonable efforts to describe its objects accurately and transparently according to the information, documentation and specialist knowledge available at the time of sale.
Japanese antiques frequently involve questions of historical attribution, dating, school, workshop or authorship that may be based on expert opinion and can sometimes be subject to scholarly disagreement.
Where a recognised appraisal or certification organisation, such as the NBTHK or another specialist institution, has issued documentation concerning an item, the nature of that certification will be identified where applicable.
Supein Nihonto does not represent an attribution as having been issued by a third-party organisation unless such attribution or certification actually accompanies or applies to the item.
The photographs, texts, descriptions, graphics, videos, design elements and other original content appearing on www.supeinnihonto.com are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
They may not be reproduced, distributed, commercially exploited or republished without prior authorisation from Supein Nihonto or the corresponding rights holder.
Personal data collected during the ordering and payment process will be processed in accordance with the Privacy Policy available on this website and applicable data-protection legislation.
Payment-card data processed through the Virtual POS is handled through the secure infrastructure of the corresponding payment service provider.
